At the TriSisters Art House in St. Jacobs On: 1370 King St N
As the Quilt is 36 metres long, our facility in St. Jacobs is not actually large enough to display it, so we were thrilled to find Esther’s model for the Quilt in the archives that arrived last year. In this image of the volunteers building the Quilt, Esther’s model can be seen hanging on the wall above the door.
Now, beautifully framed and protected, the model has become a wonderful touchstone to build the rest of the information centre around.
Since becoming the caretakers of the Quilt of Belonging we have also been able to re-photograph it. With high definition photos, we have created an example of the quilt that stitches in information for visitors to explore while they take in the wonders of the story behind the project.
Our interactive screen shows a short film about the Quilt and will become the portal for the Drift Scape App being built for the Quilt.
And of course you can learn all about Esther Bryan, the heart and soul behind the Quilt of Belonging.

It was really a surprise.
The Quilt of Belonging was one of my very special projects.
I am so delighted that someone has taken keen interest and initiative to preserve and promote the iconic 1st Canadian Needlework art project.
